Wisconsin Towns and Places

Jennings

Jennings is a community in the town of Schoepke, Oneida County . It is named after David Jennings of Milwaukee, who had bought land in the vicinity. This community can come to you as quote a surprise. Driving east on CH B out of Pelican Lake, you travel el through largely uninhabited country. All of a sudden, at the intersection of CH B and Z, out pops Jennings. I is very small, but a neat place to visit.

The Mecikalski Stovewood Building was built in 1899 off stove wood, that is, made from logs cut into sections, set in lime mortar, and stack perpendicular to the length of the wall. This is an unusual construction method rarely seen outside of this area of the Upper Midwest. It is one of the largest stovewood buildings known to exist.
